Ron Meister has served as Town Justice in the Town of Mamaroneck since 2012.  He brings to the position his prior service to the Town on the Mamaroneck Board of Zoning Appeals, the Mamaroneck Traffic Committee, and the Board of Friends of the Larchmont Library; and his experience as a Military Judge in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Navy, for which he received the Secretary of the Navy Medal for Achievement. 

Judge Meister graduated summa cum laude from Yale College, and is a graduate of Yale Law School, where he served on the Board of Editors of the Yale Law Journal. 

Judge Meister is a Life Member of the American Law Institute, and a recipient of the Human Rights Award from the Southern Center for Human Rights, the Beacon of Justice Award of the National Legal Aid and Defender Association, and the Thurgood Marshall Award of the New York City Bar Association, for his pro bono representation of indigent defendants.  He has been selected for Best Lawyers in New York, Best Lawyers in America, and New York Super Lawyers.

In his private practice, Ron has successfully litigated cases ranging from a criminal antitrust case in Montana to a multi-million-dollar tax case in New York. He has represented manufacturers, publishers, cable television companies, housing cooperatives, copyright and trademark owners, theater producers, religious organizations, civil liberties organizations, corporate executives, attorneys, a former Prime Minister of Israel, a former Vice President of the United States, and individuals and companies in the jewelry, concrete, electrical contracting, news, entertainment, carpet, milk, candy, and kosher food industries.

Judge Meister is a frequent speaker on legal, nautical, and humorous issues, and is the author of numerous articles and reviews, including King John and the Road to Magna Carta, An Ensign for the Coffin, and Justice Tempered With Murphy, in publications including the A.B.A. Journal, the New York Law Journal, and the Yale Law Report. 

Judge Meister is married to Jane Sovern, and is a long-term resident of Mamaroneck whose three children graduated from Mamaroneck High School.
